Earlier this morning, Yakima's Ben Johnson of the blues/rock outfit Shoot Jake stopped by 'The Big Show' to talk about some great events coming to town with an emphasis on blues music.  He also brought his axe and debuted a new song he has recently worked up.
We kicked off his visit by spinning my favorite cut off of the trio's debut E.P. called "Up Tight."  You can listen to it here:

Johnson then told us about a great event coming up the weekend of June 13th and 14th called the Yakima Blues and Local Brews festival which will feature six blues-based acts and six area breweries.  The event kicks off Friday night at the Sports Center and continues in earnest on Saturday from 2 - 9 p.m. on historic Front Street on two different stages.Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 the weekend of and can be purchased at YakimaBlues.com.

Shoot Jake will also perform the day before Independence Day as part of the 2nd annual Downtown Summer Nights music series presented by 94.5 KATS, the City of Yakima, Stewart Subaru and Washington Broadband.  This year's musical roster is powered by the 3rd annual Chinook Fest.

Ben and his rhythm section (which includes his drumming wife Lindsay) will be performing this afternoon in Performance Park in downtown Yakima from 11:45 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. as part of the second annual "Lunch Time Live" music series presented by the City of Yakima.

The cordial Johnson wrapped-up his visit by cranking out a new tune that you can watch and listen to here:
