Yesterday my good friend Ty Paxton, aka 'Larry Markwart,' took the ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) 'Ice Bucket Challenge' and named me as one of three people he wanted to see complete it as a means of raising money and bringing awareness to Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).

I gladly accepted. And not only did I let KATS' own Kelly West dump a bucket of ice water on my head, I donated $50 to the ALS Association, which you help do by clicking here.

I accepted the challenge in memory of Kevin Leadon. Kevin was a great guy from right here in Yakima who loved sports and rock 'n' roll.  We hit it off famously as he used to sit in the seats directly in front of me when I worked for the Yakima SunKings CBA basketball team. Kevin worked many years at Valley Lock & Key and he is missed greatly by his friends and family, who still gather quite often in his name.

I challenged KIMA-TV Sports Director Alan Sillence, Townsquare Media-Yakima General Manager (my boss!) Cheryl Salomone and one of Kevin's good friends, Bob Richardson, at Valley Lock & Key.
