Average Smoker in Washington Spends Over $2.5 Million in Lifetime

As a tobacco user (chewing, snuff) myself, I sometimes shudder to think how much money I have blown on a truly bad habit in my lifetime.

I started right after high school when I was 18. I just turned 50 last month. A can of snus costs me $3.90 and usually lasts me about 3 days, or, $1.30 per day for my nicotine fix. That works out to be over $22,000 dollars -- a new car, in essence!

Scarily enough, that doesn't factor in the other ancillary costs. Dental work? I know I've had my share. How much has that cost me?

Now I know that there are exponentially more cigarette smokers than chewers and our good friends at WalletHub.com have been drilling down into the numbers again and if you are a smoker in the state of Washington, you may be shocked to hear their findings as to the amount of money the average Washingtonian expends on cigarettes and the subsequent health costs, etc.

They released their data in a report titled "The Real Cost of Smoking by State".

Washington winds up near the most expensive states to be a smoker, ranking 43rd out of all 50 states in the U.S.
