With Mother’s Day right around the corner, finding the special gift for dear old mom is very stressful. The person who brought you into this world, and often threatened to “take you out!” (That couldn’t have just been mine?!).

Well, I may be horrible at great gift ideas for mom, but I sure as heck know what she DOESN’T want, and I have 10 of those horrible gifts for you below.

Mother’s Day Is Coming!

With Mother’s Day popping up on Sunday, May 6th, you’re getting into crunch time to get her something nice and unforgettable. But, if you get her something she doesn’t want, she’ll (and you) will never forget it.

Even as a little kid, I went and tried to pick nice purple flowers off the tree on the side of our house growing up in Naches. I thought I was doing something great and nice. My mom, appreciating the offer, took them from me and set them on the table. Then, when I was out of sight, she threw them outside.

I was sad, she didn’t know I saw her do it, but I did eventually ask (after several more times bringing them in). Apparently, those flowers (which I don’t remember what exactly they were, 35+ years later) brought tiny bugs into the house.

So learn from my lesson… moms hate flowers! Or at least those particular ones that bring bugs… moms don’t like bugs. Here are 10 other gifts moms in Washington won’t like either.
