More ballots from Tuesday's primary election will be counted this afternoon in the Yakima County Auditors Office. Auditor Charles Ross says he expects a 30% to 35% turnout after all the counting is finished and the election is certified at the end of the month. As of Tuesday the turnout is 24%. That means of the 120, 924 ballots sent to voters 29, 218 were counted on Tuesday night. Ross says they'll continue to count ballots from the mail every afternoon. Some percentages may change but Ross says it's likely the ballots to be counted will follow the same trends as those counted on election night.
The one local race that many people are watching is the Yakima County Commissioner District 1 race between Vicki Baker and Amanda McKinney. Baker, the incumbent who was appointed to the position earlier this year gained 34 percent of the vote compared to McKinney with 46% of the vote from Tuesday's primary election.
