Here's What You Missed at Yakima's Fan Fest Northwest

The Fun Begins

This past weekend, Fan Fest Northwest gave the Yakima Valley a much-needed break from the smoke, and from everything else. Geeks, nerds, and anyone who shares in the fandoms came to check out the event at the Yakima Convention Center.

Rod House, a local charity organization helping combat youth homelessness, came up with an exciting way to raise money for the community. For the second year, they put on Fan Fest Northwest to do it.

Think of it as a convention for all things geek and pop culture for everyone to have a blast.

Vendors Galore

Local businesses like Last Stand Collectibles and Elite Gaming Gear brought the excitement and energy with gaming tournaments of all kinds. People dressed to impress in their favorite cosplays and showed off for the cosplay contests on stage.

Vendors of all sorts filled the building.

There were companies like Everette Comics slinging great deals, hooking people up with comics for a great price. There were artists like those of Screaming Crow Creations rocking the adorable monster art and stickers.

Indie Comics and Art

I-DIA Ink LLC was there showing off their indie comics and art, out of Portland, making them fellow PNW nerds representing at the show. Artist Alexa Lo, also known as Akirakirai, was also at the show displaying her incredible art all the way from Kent to our town.

The Never Ending Excitement

Everywhere you looked, there were people playing board games, participating in tournaments and contests, exploring the vendors and purchasing great art and stories to read. All con goers appeared to be having the best of times, a much-needed reprieve from all the fires in our state; this was a place to step away from our problems in life and to celebrate together in the joy of their fandoms.
