Biggest Threat To Seniors

We know from polls and studies that Alzheimer’s is the Most-Feared Disease of Older Americans:

Retirees are more fearful of Alzheimer’s than infectious diseases such as COVID-19, as well as cancer, strokes or heart attacks...findings showed one-in-three (32 percent) of retirees listed Alzheimer’s as the chronic disease they feared most, 11 points higher than cancer and 13 points more than contagious diseases such as COVID-19.

Reason To Be Afraid

There's good reason for the fear ...  studies show deaths due to Alzheimer’s between 2000 and 2019 have more than doubled, increasing 145%. During the same time period, deaths from heart disease (the nation’s No. 1 killer) increased just 7.3%.

More Fear...1 in 3 seniors dies with Alzheimer’s or another dementia, killing more than breast and prostate cancer combined. Alzheimer’s disease is listed as the sixth leading cause of death in the U.S. States, but it may cause more deaths than is recognized.
So I would say the case for concern has been made which has doctors and researchers looking everywhere for a cause or a connection.  Even to the size of your family!

Women Have It Worse

What about this:
65% of Alzheimer’s patients are women
Research shows the number of children you have can impact your cognitive function later in life
How is that possible?  Science draws a pretty straight line connecting the more kids a person has results in fewer resources which leads to stress and that "stress could contribute to cognitive decline later on."

Measuring the Impact Of More Kids

Columbia University researchers found having three or more children was equivalent to an additional 6.2 years of aging when it comes to cognitive functioning.  This probably means is if you are 50 - 60 and seeing this now, it's probably too late to do anything about it...but tell your kids and grandkids!
