Budget writers in the City of Yakima are being praised after the 2021 budget has earned the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).

A press release from the city says the "2021 budget received the honor for comprehensive planning, financial integrity and effective communication. This marks the second consecutive year the City of Yakima has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award."

Lots of holiday closures for Friday and Saturday

Because of the upcoming holiday city offices will be closed on Friday, December 31, in observance of the New Year’s Day holiday. City officials say business offices for the Police and Fire Departments will be closed. Emergency services will remain available.
If you ride the bus Yakima Transit will provide reduced service Friday, December 31.
Yakima Transit will operate all routes on the Saturday schedule and the service window will be closed. Yakima Transit will not provide bus service on New Years Day.
If your garbage day is Friday it will continue as scheduled. The City of Yakima Refuse Division office will be closed on those days.

If you love to swim at Lions your swim time will be limited on Friday

Lions Pool closes at 1:00 pm on December 31. The pool will be closed on New Year’s Day.
