On a night when lots of people might've stayed home by their swamp coolers, Yakima decided to stroll downtown and catch some breezy music from Polecat and Crow and the Canyon. Yup -- even as the temperature hovered around 100, folks were dancing and singing along as a couple of Northwest favorites put on a Downtown Summer Nights program that was darn near as hot as the air temperature on North Fro

With the temperature hanging around the triple-digit mark, you won't need a jacket at Downtown Summer Nights this week. You might as well lose the tie, too. But as usual, be ready for some great music, food and drinks when two more Northwest bands step onto the stage Thursday evening. This week's show features Polecat and Crow and the Canyon.

Nobody wants to think about it, but now that it's darn near August, those Downtown Summer Nights of ours are starting to dwindle. Good thing for Too Slim & the Taildraggers and Luke Yates! The two acts turned on two great sets Thursday night at Yakima's new favorite party spot, North Front Street. ...

We learned at least two things at this week's Downtown Summer Nights concert: Indigo Kidd is growing up to be a formidable talent. Blake Noble has a lot of friends. Two of Yakima's favorite bands had North Front Street cheering and jumpin' Thursday night, and both delivered performances that'll keep the town warm well into the winter...

"Change," the late President John F. Kennedy once said, "is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future." We're not sure which way you were looking Thursday night, but wherever we looked during the first Downtown Summer Nights event at our new North Front Street location, we saw smiles...

We had an early taste of tonight's (June 16) Downtown Summer Nights music when a couple of members of The Common Deer stopped by the studios this morning and played us one of their songs. Here's "Coffee Black and Whiskey Rye" -- and a little visual sampler of what you'll see at Downtown Summer Nights...
