Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife has announced some exceptions although night angling is closed in the Columbia River.

Right now the only ones that can fishb overnight at those searching for the invasive northern pikeminnow.

The Columbia River from Buoy 10 opens Aug. 1 upstream to the Highway 395 Bridge, which allows night time bow hunting for carp.

In the past, you used to be able to fish all night for catfish.

Not any more.

Of course, if you stop and get some vouchers for the pikeminnow fishery you will catch catfish while trying for pikeminnow.

Some nights, I would catch more cats than squaw fish when I relied on the pikeminnow fishery for a living.

At least I put food on the table that way!
