Did You Vote Your Ballot? Election Night Results 2021

Even though there was a lot of talk about the election not a lot of people voted ballots in Yakima. The official turnout from Tuesday was 18.02% or 22,946 ballots returned. In the city of Yakima council seats were open in Districts 2, 4 and 6.

The race between Matt Brown and Lisa Wallace to close to call

In The District 2 race, Danny Herrera out polled Edgar Hernandez 59% to 39%. In District 4, Janice Deccio won the race with 58.82 percent of the vote compared to 39.9% for Mark Shervey. It's a different story in the District 6 race because the numbers are so close. Lisa Wallace has 50.45% but Matt Brown is close behind with 49.37% of the vote. More ballots are expected to be counted in the Yakima County Auditors Office on Wednesday afternoon.

An incumbent won the seat on the Yakima County Commission

In the race for Yakima County Commission District 3 Incumbent LaDon Linde out polled his opponent Autumn Torres 52.31% to Torres with 45.64.
Voters also showed continued support for the law and justice sales tax with 69.71% supporting the measure and 30.29 percent voting no.
Yakima School District Board of Director Races. For Position 1 Incumbent Graciela Villanueva out polled Kenton Gartrell 55.56% to Gartrell's 43.74% of the vote.
In Position 2 on the Yakima School District Board of Directors Ryan Beckett takes the win 66.87% compared to Incumbent Don Davis with 32.28%.

Yakima City officials asked voters to support propositions

Yakima City officials also asked voters to support three propositions.
Proposition 1, requiring council members to attend meetings. Voters overwhelmingly supported the issue with 84.59% compared to the no votes of 15.41%
Proposition 2, making corrections to the city charter also was supported by voters 59.91% compared to 40.09% no votes.
Proposition 3, barring the city from enacting a local income tax. Voters supported the measure with 78.31%. 21.69% voted against the measure.
Nearly 129,000 ballots were sent out. More ballots are expected to be counted in the Auditors Office later today.
