Yakima Valley Library Hosts Manga Day In November
The Yakima Valley Library held its first ‘Manga Day’ back in April, and it was a bigger hit than Son Goku going Super Saiyan (if you know, then you probably already know about Manga Day). If you don’t know, going super Saiyan is a pretty big deal.
My Fun In The World Of Reading Manga
For anyone who knows me, knows I love comic books, but I will admit, I’m a newer fan of Manga, and have a small collection that is growing (about a short box and a half, for those other collectors out there). The series that I’m addicted to right now is One-Punch Man, Berserk, and Chainsaw Man.
I’ve given the Manga that featured Western properties a try with mixed love and disappointment. Manga books like Batman: Justice Buster, Spider-Man Fake Red, I enjoyed, whereas Deadpool: Samurai and Rick and Morty: The Manga, I just couldn’t get into. I’m not saying they were bad, just not my cup of tea.

I have seen my friends go back and forth over which is better, ‘Western Comics’ (the traditional comic books of Batman, Spider-Man, Superman, Avengers, X-Men, Wonder Woman, etc.) or Manga (Japanese comic books).

They both have their pros and cons, but in my personal opinion, if you’re reading them and you’re loving them, then you can’t go wrong. I wrote more on this topic when the first Manga Day was taking place; you can read that article here.
But if you’re new to the world of Manga, an old pro, or like me, and somewhere in between, you’re invited to the Yakima Valley Library’s next Manga Day!
Yakima Valley Library’s Manga Day Event
Clear your calendars for Monday, November 3rd, which is Japanese Culture/Manga Day. A perfect way to celebrate is by visiting our local library and enjoying some ‘right-to-left’ reading material.
Visit the Yakima Central Library (102 N 3rd Street in Yakima) from 5 pm to 7 pm, and enjoy a mini anime/manga convention right inside the Yakima Central Library!
“Make something amazing at our craft stations, join in on fun activities, and enter our cosplay contest for a chance to win awesome prizes. From shōnen to shōjo, heroes to villains, and everything in between—everyone’s welcome to be part of the story.”
