FDA Bans Sales of Heartburn Med Zantac, Cites Cancer-Causing Risk
If you or someone you know uses the heartburn medication Zantac, be aware that the Food and Drug Administration has just ordered the product to be pulled from stores effective immediately.
U.S. officials say Zantac (Ranitidine) has shown to be a risk factor in causing cancer. The drug is available by prescription and over the counter and is used for controlling heartburn, stomach ulcers, and acid reflux conditions.
If you are currently using Zantac there are other medications you can try, according to the FDA's website advisory.
