Memories Build Around Fireworks
Two Independence Day celebrations remain vibrant in my memory. One was in Seattle, and the other was in central Washington, right in the Yakima Valley.

In 1989, my father had a brand new video camcorder, the holiday was approaching, and so we decided to pay my grandparents a visit in Seattle. After a fun-filled day with family, BBQing, and playing with my cousins, the fireworks started, and we had the best view ever… on top of my grandparents' two-story house (photo above taken from the VHS tape 35+ years later).
My other most memorable Independence Day was 14 years ago with my then-girlfriend (now wife). I got permission, and we took a trip to the radio station transmitters on top of the hill. NOTE: Do not attempt to do this; it is heavily secured and patrolled. I had clearance.

We were able to watch firework shows from all over the Yakima Valley. From displays in Selah, to State Fair Park in Yakima, to the whole town of Moxee, having a blast! That whole night was magical.
