Former Mariner Ichiro Suzuki Closes In On 3,000 MLB Hits, Title Of Worldwide ‘Hit King’
Former Seattle Mariners outfielder Ichiro Suzuki is just 23 hits shy of becoming just the 30th player in Major League Baseball history to reach the 3,000 hits milestone.

If you include the base hits he collected professionally while playing in Japan's Pacific Coast League (1,278) for the Orix Blue Wave, then he would already have eclipsed Ty Cobb's career total of 4,191 and is now just one hit short of tying the big league record.
The current all-time hits leader, Pete Rose (4,256), understandably, thinks Suzuki's hits in Japan shouldn't count. Don't bet on it, Pete.
