• Following Wednesday night’s passage of a tax extenders in the U.S. House, the American Farm Bureau Federation urged Congress to pass the temporary legislation by the end of the year.While Farm Bureau favors a long-term extension, President Bob Stallman said they’re glad to have these temporary extensions, but know the issues will come up again.

    The bill passed the House and now heads to the Senate. Time to finish the bill is short as the House and Senate are expected to adjourn for the year next week. The bill is a one-year, retroactive extension that only last until the end of this month.

  • 207 groups urged Congress to leave Country of Origin Labeling alone in federal spending legislation that must be passed by Congress before the lame duck session comes to a close.The groups submitted the letter this week and urged committee leaders to reject efforts to repeal or weaken COOL.

    United States Cattlemen’s Association President Danni Beer said “The effort to weaken or repeal COOL is being led by a group of multi-national organizations who do not accurately reflect the American public's view of COOL.”
