It's a NO GO for 2021 and the Columbia River hydro boat races. The annual Columbia Cup and Over-The-River airshow put on by the Waterfollies is canceled for 2021.

According to Kathy Powell Event Director, “We gave it our best shot, to no avail”.

The event brings over 65,000 spectators to watch the hydroplanes and airplanes in the air but this year it's not going to happen due to the lingering effects of the pandemic.

One of the reasons is the guidelines for COVID-19 for Washington State don't allow for the massive crowds that the Waterfollies bring to the Tri-Cities.

The event generates over 3 million dollars a year to the region and employs over 1200 volunteers to put on the event.

I'm sad to see this happen and I'm curious what that means for other events over the next few months. There is a concern that Benton and Franklin counties will slide back into Phase 2 with the rise of new COVID-19 cases.

Seaside is one of my favorite places to visit. I love the fresh air and the total vibe of the little town along the Oregon Coast.

What is your favorite beach town?

I know a lot of people love San Diego. I once got off a plane in San Diego on a perfect day and it felt great. We've compiled a gallery of the 50 best beach towns to check out below:

Every beach town has its share of pluses and minuses, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best one to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.

Keep reading to see if your favorite beach town made the cut.
