Is the COVID-19 virus making its way up to Washington state?

COVID-19 symptoms can range from gross to mild, including feeling like you're going to die (like I did when I got COVID), sneezing a lot, coughing, high fever, low fever, losing your sense of taste and more.

Recent news stories and a data map from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) are showing increasing levels of the bacteria showing up in tests of wastewater in the PNW. See the list of states impacted below.

When I'm in the grocery store and I see someone wearing a face mask, I tell myself that perhaps they are immune compromised, but what if it's just because they're taking precautions to avoid catching that nasty COVID bug again?

I bet there are some people have never stopped wearing face masks outside their homes since the pandemic. My 13-year-old daughter still wears them, especially when we go for one of her doctor appointments.

I shudder to think that another big outbreak COVID-19 could happen again in Washington state.

4 EASY WAYS TO AVOID CATCHING AND SPREADING COVID-19

  • Mask UP!

  • WASH Your Dang Hands!

  • Social DISTANCE!

  • Get the latest VACCINES if you are able to do so!

WHICH STATES HAVE THE HIGHEST RATE OF COVID-19 LEVELS?

There are seven states in particular that have seen concerning levels of COVID-19 cases, including people going to the emergency room. Two of these are our Pacific Northwest neighbors, so that's rather frightening to me.

  • NEVADA

  • TEXAS

  • ARKANSAS

  • FLORIDA

  • MARYLAND

  • OREGON

  • CALIFORNIA

There is no way I want to catch COVID again; that was one of the worst illnesses of my life! I caught it during a solo trip to Las Vegas in 2022, so I wasn't surprised when I saw the news that President Biden recently caught it right after he left a campaign rally in Nevada.
