Mystery Items Found on Car in Yakima Raise Safety Concerns

Some seemingly harmless, but the more you look at them, unsettling photos were posted on one of our local social media group pages anonymously. The person posting the picture, when she (assuming the person who posted was female) was unnerved by it, and was looking for community input about what it could be. We’ve gathered the thoughts and explanations below.

What Was Photographed On A Car In Yakima

The photos above and below are recreations of what was photographed and posted in the Facebook Group 'WTF Is Happening In Yakima?' They depict cloth and cleaning wipes wrapped around a car’s windshield wipers.

“I came out of my job at 9:10. I noticed like heavy-duty wipes on my windshield wipers, it was purposely wrapped around and tucked in my wipers. It really freaked me out. What can this mean?”

With anything nowadays, there are some comical and sarcastic answers from the Yakima online community. But a majority of the serious answers lean towards 2 possibilities that lead to something that’s far more scary and possibly dangerous.

Saturated/Laced Wipes

Many warned that the wipes could contain some type of harmful chemicals that could get into your system if you take them off with your hands.

A Distraction/Trap

The other thought was how they are wrapped around your car to get you to take time clearing them off, getting you distracted so you wouldn’t see an attack coming.

What Can You Do In This Situation?

If you see something like this, just get into your car and drive away. When you get to some place safe, then you can investigate (using gloves). If it is bad weather, and you absolutely cannot drive, either get into your car and lock the doors, or go back inside wherever you were and find/call for help.
