How ’19’ Became a Freshly Made Millionaire’s New Lucky Number

Meet Jess Daniels.

Jess was out and about in San Jose, CA, just doing daily errands and stuff like that when he decided to swing by the Gateway Food & Liquor store to grab some Scratchers.

According to the California Lottery, they said he even contemplated taking a nap or scratching the tickets. He decided to go for the Scratchers first.

The first ticket won $20. Hey! Not bad!

According to CA Lottery, Jess said,

“I scratch all the winning numbers first, then all the player’s numbers. Then I start checking them,” Daniels explained. “So I went down the rows, first row – 43? Nope. 27? Nope. 16? Nope.”

“OH! I’ve got number 19! So, I started to scratch it,”

Jess has played before and has even won $1,000 in the past so he thought it could be another $1,000 winner.

Well, it was 1,000x that. After a row of zeros, he realized he won $1,000,000.

So, congrats to Jess, but how does the lucky number 19 play into all this?

Jess said,

“It was December 19th, the winning number was number 19, and the matching number was also 19. When I filled out the paperwork, it required a 19-digit number, and on the 19th of February, I received my check. So, number 19 is now my lucky number.”
