Kid Rock to Perform Benefit Show With Detroit Symphony Orchestra

Kid Rock is taking part in a unique one-off performance with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra this May to help them recover from losses accrued during a six-month strike last year.

Kid Rock is no stranger to making charitable contributions to the city of Detroit and his home state of Michigan. Now Kid Rock has signed up to help raise money for the financially unstable Detroit Symphony Orchestra by performing alongside them at the Fox Theatre on May 12. “As a musician, and of course a Detroiter, I am proud to be supporting this longstanding cultural institution,” says Kid Rock of the upcoming gig.

Quicken Loans chairman Dan Gilbert came up with the idea to ask for Rock’s assistance, with hopes that the concert will generate $1 million for the DSO. Tickets for ‘Rock the Symphony’ go on sale Saturday, March 3,  and will start at $100 with VIP packages available — that will include admission to the after-party — for $1,500.

“I know these ticket prices are more than what my fans are used to paying,” Rock says of the somewhat bloated price. “I am confident that whatever happens when we put the Twisted Brown Trucker Band, a 80 piece orchestra and ‘Bawitdaba’ together will be well worth the price of admission.”
