The Seattle Mariners avoided a three-game sweep at the hands of the Chicago White Sox in a midday matinee at T-Mobile Park today (April 7) despite a poor start from pitcher Justin Dunn.

Dunn tossed 4 2/3 innings and allowed three runs despite surrendering just one hit. Dunn had trouble finding the strike zone en route to admitting eight walks before leaving the game in the top of the fifth inning with the bases loaded and the Mariner precariously hanging on to a 1-0 lead.

The script flipped in the bottom of the sixth when the M's rallied for seven runs that included an 11-pitch base on balls authored by designated hitter Ty France, eventually leading the M's to an 8-4 victory over the Pale Hose.

The victory raised Seattle's record back to .500 as they wrapped-up their season-opening home stand with a 3-3 ledger.

The Mariners travel to Minnesota to take on the Twins in the first of a four-game series before wrapping up their first road trip of the 2021 campaign against the Baltimore Orioles. Marco Gonzales takes the hill for the M's in his second start of the season after opening the team's schedule last Thursday in a 10 inning comeback win over the San Francisco Giants on opening day.
