Frank Iero obviously took issue with recent rumors regarding a My Chemical Romance reunion, which he humorously all but refuted in comical fashion. But the whispers were seemingly sparked by an on-air comment from the Jonas Brothers' Joe Jonas, so the former My Chem member and current leader of Frank Iero and the Future Violents spoke out against the Brothers in more direct terms Tuesday (July 23.)

During a wide-ranging chat on the Zach Sang Show, the musician knocked the comeback the Jonas Brothers launched earlier this year, criticizing them for what he feels is an appropriation of rock music. "I don't understand why you would do an interview about your band and talk about someone else's band,” Iero said, as reported by Billboard. "I think they're trying to rebrand their band as a real rock band and they're trying to mention as many rock bands and trying to get, like, synonymous with other things. And people aren't gonna forget that you're a Disney band, bro. Sorry, it's not gonna happen."

Last month, Joe Jonas told KISS FM, "I've got some dirt. My Chemical Romance were apparently rehearsing next to us in New York recently, which — I thought they broke up, so … that’s the gossip!"

Iero quickly denied the rumors to the Asbury Park Press. Although he curiously added, "I survived a bus accident, so anything is possible," a reference to the vehicle collision he experienced in 2016.

In June, Iero actually did get together with one other former member of My Chem for a special session. He also nodded to the band in song. Frank Iero and the Future Violents' new album Barriers is out now.
