A few months ago, I received an e-mail from Steve Davidson out at Naches Valley High School.  Mr. Davidson is part of the Alternative Learning Program there and stated that his class always listens to "The Big Show" each morning.  He went on to explain that he is constantly looking for creative ways to help spur his students on to achieve their stated goal: "Operation Graduation 2012: 100% Graduation...No Excuses"

He was hoping KATS could hook the students up with something that they might find cool enough to work extra hard at winning.  In previous months, the 41 students enrolled in the program had competed for a ski package at White Pass, amongst other things.  For every five lessons a particular student completed successfully, they would receive an entry into the monthly drawing.

I thought it was a great idea and wanted KATS to be a part of the good work going on out at Naches so we decided to pull out all of the stops.  I ponied up with a pair of free tickets to see Five Finger Death Punch when they performed in the SunDome last Friday, March 30th.

Needless to say, the kids were stoked!  According to Mr. Davidson,

"They were quite a motivator [see chart below].  We’ve never had so many students get so much accomplished in such a short period of time.  In total, we had over 152 entries, over 600 Lessons completed and over 24 credits earned….. in ONE MONTH!!!
It was awesome!  We even had students enrolling in extra classes to learn more..just to get more entries."

When it was all said and done, Cristal Cooley was the winner of the tickets to the concert.  Congrats Cristal, Mr. Davidson and all of the students at Naches on a job well done!
