Firstly, Happy Saint Patrick's Day! However you celebrate today - or not - here are some other well-known saints in the Yakima Valley.

For some history, St. Patrick - according to Wikipedia, was "... a fifth-century Romano-British Christian missionary and bishop in Ireland. Known as the "Apostle of Ireland", he is the primary patron saint of Ireland."

Pretty lofty stuff, right there.

Locally, you're likely to do business, worship, recreate or shop with these other "saints":

St. Paul's Cathedral - The Parish, and it's building, still sit at 12th & Yakima Avenue. It opened on Easter Sunday in 1927.

St. Joseph/Marquette Catholic School - Besides helping sickly children with aspirin, St. Joseph and Three Sisters of Charity of Providence founded St. Joseph, the first school in 1875.

St. Vincent DePaul - The Patron Saint of Thrift Stores? Who knows, but you can find some bargains to help fund Catholic Charities here in Yakima.

St. Joe's Bingo - Even saints like to "roll them bones" now and then, apparently.

St. Jack's Videos - While you're waiting to be canonized, enjoy a flick at one of their two locations in either Terrace Heights or Wapato
