Pippins Add Two Golden State Pitchers to 2015 Roster
The Yakima Valley Pippins have signed San Jose State right handed pitchers Josh Nashed and Rashaan Kuhaulua to play in Yakima in 2015.
The team announced the deals on Tuesday.
Nashed, who also can play the infield, comes out of San Jose’s Leland High School and will play his first season with the Spartans this spring.
"Josh is that talented two-way player that you rarely see at the Division-I level,” said Pippins Manager Marcus McKimmy, who played for San Jose State in 2007. “He is a power arm out of the bullpen which is very important in the West Coast League (WCL), but who can also provide INF depth for us w/ his glove and bat. I'm glad he's going to be a Pippin here in Yakima."
Kuhaulua will also be starting his first season with San Jose State this spring, after coming from Kapa’a High School in Kapa’a, Hawai’i.
"Rashaan is another freshman right-handed pitcher that has three very good pitches for strikes,” said McKimmy. “His arm is long and loose and has been projected as a starter in the spring for San Jose State. He should have much-needed experience coming into the summer which will be very valuable to our pitching staff."
The Pippins will begin their 2015 season on June 5.
