Seahawks Quarterback Russell Wilson the Subject of Trade Rumors
Each team nominates one player for the yearly award, and by winning Wilson receives a $250,000 donation to Russell and Ciara's 'Why Not You Foundation.' Founded in 2014, the nonprofit is dedicated to fighting poverty through education, empowering youth to lead with a 'why not you' attitude. Wilson is only the second player in franchise history to win the award, joining Steve Largent, who won it in 1988.
As far as Russell being traded, the Seahawks have categorically rebuffed all potential suitors and/or offers as of this writing, even though there have been a 'couple of inquiries', more than likely, Carson Wentz will be the next NFL quarterback on the move. The Matthew Stafford/Jared Goff trade was just the beginning. The Bears, Colts, 49ers, Panthers, Washington, Patriots, Jets and Broncos are among those who have at least placed a phone call regarding a new QB to 'several NFL teams' gauging their interest in doing some kind of deal.
Wilson has a no-trade clause in his contract so even if the Seahawks wanted to trade him there has to be a deal so incredibly appealing that would make him waive that clause, or he’d have to have some massive falling out with Pete Carroll and the front office that would make him want out. That scenario is highly unlikely as Wilson basically got the new Offensive Coordinator he was looking for after Brian Schottenheimer was fired.
