Serial Killers From Washington — I Had No Idea
I did a search on serial killers from our area. None came up for Yakima Valley, but a ton came up for the state of Washington. Ted Bundy, who was from Tacoma, is one of the most notorious serial killers in modern history. Bundy was thought to have killed more than 36 young woman from six different states including Washington. He was executed in Florida in 1989. There is also Gary Ridgeway, the "Green River Killer."Mind you, most of these are suspected to be serial killers. They have been proven to be killers, but they were not convicted as serial killers. Some of these are suspected of the most disgusting things.
John R. Gasser, who was a state employee at the time of his killings, is still in prison in the state of Washington. He raped and killed a 22-year-old woman and dumped her body by the Sand Point Naval Station. He went to prison for years, but after he was let out, he strangled a 49-year-old woman in 1982 and dumped her body in a ditch.
Harvey L. Carignan was a gas station manager in Seattle and in Minnesota. He is in prison in Minnesota and is suspected in dozens of sex killings spanning more than four decades. He apparently used to place ads in the "help wanted" sections of newspapers. I cannot believe that this guy is still alive.
Some pretty crazy things have happened in our awesome state. You can never be too careful.
