Yakima gets a lot of grief from people inside and outside our area.

For people who live here or have visited and have had a rough time, I get it.

But those same people may have those same thoughts wherever they go.

Some people just aren’t happy unless they’re complaining.

Like that old saying, home is where the heart is. If your heart is in it, it’ll be good.

And the opposite is true: if you’re looking for problems and negativity, you’ll be in no short supply.

I’ve lived in Yakima all my life, but I have also traveled and realized that every place has its pros and cons!

That’s why when I see an outsider give our hometown some props, my head lifts a little higher.

A viral TikToker who explores the country via online maps by dropping in on random streets and then deeming whether places are “Shiddy” or not “Shiddy” paid a virtual visit to Yakima.

Of course, many people are claiming he didn’t drop the marker in the right places, which goes to support my earlier statement… if you go looking for the negative, you’ll find it.
