Is A TikToker right & Yakima, Tri-Cities, and Spokane really that bad?
So there’s a video making the rounds on TikTok with a young lady insulting towns. When I first saw the video, I wanted to comment on it, but then I realized that was what she wanted. The reactions. The clicks. I know that’s the name of the game in the world of social media. But why go about it with all the hate?
I was going to post her video, but I really don’t want to give this person extra attention. But calling Yakima “Washington’s taint” did make me chuckle; I can take a joke. But then my friend Bobby pointed out that her videos had different Pacific Northwest cities with other insults attached. Has she ever even been to any of these places? Sure, there are some negatives, but there are a lot of positives. Does it really build up her self-esteem that much by trolling towns and ripping them down on your feed? I hope not, but only she knows.
Growing up in Yakima, I’ve heard many friends and family members say, “I’m bored. There’s nothing to do!” Well, maybe you’re just a boring person. The same thoughts can possibly go towards this person; if every place is horrible to you, perhaps the problems are not places?
When it comes down to it, I’m pretty burned out by all the negativity from everywhere. Even my comedian friends who have to gripe and “not be happy” to keep that comedy cred are wearing me down. It gets to a point where it’s no longer funny and just whining. In the end, what do you have to show for it? Extra clicks and high blood pressure.
What's Washington's Most Popular Dog Names?
I’ll get off my soapbox now and head back out to hopefully help the community, not just put it down from a social media platform. What are your thoughts? Is the Pacific Northwest that bad of a place? Or is the Tiktoker just trolling? Tap the App and let us know!
