Washington Energy Bills Are Forcing Tough Financial Choices
The price of everything is going up in Washington, and it’s no surprise that our utility bills are one of them. What is surprising to me is what people are cutting in order to make ends meet. I know what my wife and I have cut back on, but what nearly half of Washingtonians have tightened their belts on, and 1 in 10 residents' actions, have left me jaw-dropped. We have the breakdown below.
Home Comfort Is Costing Us!
Keeping our houses cool throughout this Summer was expensive, with 75% of homeowners paying more to keep the AC on, and with winter on the way, that number doesn’t look to go down.
Because of the cost of keeping your home comfortable in the extreme times of the year, SupplyHouse.com ran a study, and what many are deciding and sacrificing is pretty eye-opening.
15% plan to just bear being uncomfortable, especially when they sleep.
43% have delayed and ignored HVAC repairs for cost worries.

49% have cut back on eating out in order to save money when it comes to the energy bill.
1 in 10 homeowners are cutting dental and even medical care.
How It Has Affected My Life
I’m part of that 49% who have cut back on eating out. My wife and I are in a very fortunate situation with our home, and no children to worry about, but we’re feeling the crunch too. Our entertainment dollar has also been cut drastically, saving the big fun activities for special occasions like birthdays and anniversaries.
We’ve downsized on our descriptions and have delved deep into our love of reading and using our public library for access to entertainment, in order to help cut costs.
