I NEVER -- never, ever, never -- thought I would see the day that TV was so important to me that I needed to record it ahead of time.

I was wrong. The advent of TiVo and the DVR has revolutionized viewing for me and many others. Especially live sporting events.

I like to hit the record button for a game I want to watch and then start playback about an hour into the contest. This allows me to fast-forward through intermissions, advertising, timeouts, etc. Most of the time I catch up to "real" time before it is over thus SAVING me an hour that I normally would have been unproductive, glued to my TV.

There are also the daily and weekly programs that I'm not always at home to specifically tune into. I'm sure you can relate. My wife will have entire chunks of her weekend dedicated to getting caught up with all of the episodes of "Game of Thrones."

Me? Here's what I have set to automatically record:

1.) "Curb Your Enthusiasm" (HBO/Syndicated) -- While Seinfeld creator Larry David's hit cable series hasn't produced a new episode since 2010, I was late to the party and am always happy to see an episode in syndication.

2.) "Real Time with Bill Maher" (HBO) -- I'm a politcal junkie and a lover of comedy.  While I don't always agree with Maher's take and do find him to be a pompous ass at times, his producers and writers are always witty and have a good panel of varied viewpoints from week to week.

3.) "Stossel" (Fox Business) -- The former network consumer advocate has since become enlightened to free markets and the libertarian bent. It's hard to find this viewpoint presented on mainstream media. Usually it is Democrat vs. Republican, left vs. right, etc.  I enjoy his show because he exposes the folly of statism and both of the two major parties.

4.) "Forensic Files" (HLN) -- I am so addicted to these mostly-murder mysteries that my wife thinks I am plotting to kill her.

What shows do you have recording on your DVR?  Let me know in the comments below!
