The Dos & Don’ts For Calling Yakima’s 911 This 4th Of July
With Independence Day just a sparkler’s sizzle away, there is a friendly reminder that we should cover. While it might seem like a no-brainer, that old saying “Common sense is hardly ever common” rings true, especially when it’s coming from people who are annoyed by something.
Yeah, fireworks can be annoying. Just yesterday, my Yakima neighbor wanted to wish everyone a very happy 1st of July at 3:42 in the morning with a random firework explosion. No one was impressed or felt like celebrating. Not me, not my wife, not my other neighbors, and definitely not the entire neighborhood’s population of dogs.
Did I immediately call 911? No, because it was not an emergency.
Yes, in areas of the Yakima Valley, fireworks are illegal. If you see someone with them, do you call 911? No, because it is not an emergency.

When you call to complain or attempt to get someone in trouble, you’re taking away from someone who might be dealing with a life-or-death situation. You can call the authorities to report illegal fireworks, but do not dial 911 if it is not an emergency.
There is a funny, friendly reminder that’s been circling the internet the past couple of years, but it is a pretty good rule of thumb.
Friendly (& Humorous) Reminder On Calling Yakima’s 911 on The 4th Of July
Do Not Call 911 if:
