Yakima Commissioner Norm Childress Dies of Cancer

Yakima County Commissioner Norm Childress has passed away after being diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer. Childress spent only a short time in hospice care at his home in Grandview. A news release from his family says the disease was detected just a few weeks ago.
Childress served as one of three Yakima County Commissioners and was elected in November of 2018 to his post in District 3. Before becoming a commissioner Childress served as the Mayor of Grandview.
The family says they'll release more information as it becomes available.
