Yakima’s got lies and excuses! We all do it. Some lies are good and are meant to spare feelings, some are misleading and bad. The question we asked our listeners and readers wasn’t meant to promote lying, but more or less to get a laugh and maybe learn a new trick. Especially when the lie is harmless and is helpful (like getting you out of a situation).

Below are some of the truths we got about the lies our listeners tell in order to get out of a situation or obligation.

“What’s your go-to ‘I need to lie and get out of this’ excuse?”

My go-to excuse for years was a ‘Tummy ache’ or an upset Stomach. It’s hard to disprove, it happens to everyone, and when the risk of something coming out of either end (perhaps both) is present, many agree, why gamble? Just stay home.

The Excuses Yakima Residents Use To Get Out Of Something

Much like my excuse of an upset tum tum, “I made a boom boom” comes from Trever Harmon whenever he wants to avoid something.

Matt Garcia goes a bit more sarcastic and really gets the point across that he doesn’t want to do whatever it is, “Sorry, I can’t. I gotta walk my goldfish!

Scott Stahl’s excuse might seem sarcastic, but even though it’s more common in women, men CAN get yeast infections, so when he claims that as his ‘get out of jail’ card, many will laugh and roll their eyes, but others might be a little more concerned, while taking a step back.

The most common excuse was to blame it on their kids, which, for anyone with children, knows that’s not an inconceivable reason for you not being able to participate in something.

But when it comes down to it, honesty is the best policy, if for no other reason, you don’t want to lie about diarrhea, only for karma to ruin your free Friday night by making an honest person out of you.
