Yakima Libraries Launch Summer Reading Challenge
It’s getting hot outside, so why get all sweaty and grumpy when you can stay inside (where it’s cool) and push your limits of imagination, all while enjoying a good book! The best part of all, the Yakima Valley Library is here to help you out with your summer reading!
Unearth A Story With Yakima Valley Libraries
A summer reading challenge is here, and it’s helping bring the Yakima Valley community together with some reading fun, all summer long!
“Log your reading on Beanstack, complete activities, unlock badges, and earn entries into weekly prize drawings, plus enjoy free library events for the whole family!”
– Yakima Valley Libraries.
The Yakima Valley Library Summer Reading Challenge is pretty easy.
- Read at least 20 minutes (or more) and log your progress once a week.
- Visit your library completely and earn activity goals (with Digby’s Dares).
- Reach OUR library community goal! 1.5 million minutes read together!
Throughout the summer, weekly prizes will be given away, and you can earn more and more entries into the giveaways by reading more and more!
Prizes for the young and young at heart. LEGO, children's toys and rides, gift cards, electronics, theme park tickets, and so much more.
What Is Beanstack and Digby?
Digby, better known as Digby the Dinosaur, is the mascot for Yakima Valley Libraries' Summer Reading Program.
Beanstack is a little more complicated, but not much. Think of Beanstack like a Fitbit or any type of fitness tracker… but only for your reading. And it’s a program that your whole family can use. Find out more about Beanstack and links for you to get the apps here.
