Many members of the Yakima community turned out to celebrate the annual parade hosted by Yakima Pride, showing ongoing support for human rights, love, and acceptance.

The Rain Didn't Stop the Festivities for the Pride Parade in Yakima

Saturday morning (June 21st) saw a light sprinkle of rain; however, that didn't stop Yakima from turning up. At 10 AM, the parade began marching down Yakima Ave.

Hundreds of people walked in celebration of Pride—to celebrate love and show support for their community. All along the road, people came out to cheer and enjoy the show in all its excitement. Participants in the parade wore colorful outfits and handed out free balloons, stickers, candy, snacks, and flags.

Two Special Highlights of the 2025 Yakima Pride Parade

A group calling themselves “Free Mom Hugs” was offering hugs to those in the community who needed them—that embrace of feeling accepted—or simply to anyone who wanted a hug.

The parade carried a massive Pride flag on loan from Seattle Pride, spanning a size I had never seen before. It seemed to stretch across, covering the complete street with dozens of participants all helping to carry its pride.

The parade wrapped up down by the YMCA on North Naches Avenue.

The Pride party continued at noon at the State Fair Park fairgrounds with festivities, vendors, live performances, and music. An after-party for the 21+ crowd took place later that night, featuring wonderful performances from drag show entertainers.
