Yakima Residents Remember Long-Lost Video Unlimited

Do you remember a movie rental place called Video Unlimited? I asked that question in a previously written article, and decided to re-share it, with the wide reach of social media. I'm glad I did, because I got some new information.

Emails And Comments About Yakima’s Video Unlimited

The long-lost movie rental store (kids, think of Netflix in a building) was located at 5802 Summitview Ave. in Yakima. And I decided to look into this relic from yesteryear after finding a membership card (below).

Ever since re-sharing the article on it, we’ve had several comments and emails about the store, helping to build a better picture of this place, and a Selah location (according to some people’s thoughts).

“Spent a lot of my youth there; they had a giant amp speaker like in Back to the Future. Used to discuss horror movies with the older guy who worked there when I was 12 years old, good memories.”

Some of the most useful information to help piece my nostalgic puzzle came from an email from Suzanne Voldman.

She told me how she believed it was owned by her neighbors, the Embree family, who she mentioned owned that whole building that was broken up into smaller stores, and one of the first video rental stores in Yakima.

Along with memories of renting films with her family and even mentioning BETAMAX tapes (kids, look that up on your own), I’m loving hearing these stories from the community. Keep them coming.
