Father’s Day

My dad's not big on celebrating his birthday's or even Father's Day (coming up in three weeks!) but since the Big 7-O is arriving tomorrow (May 31st) I thought I'd at least give him some love on this here 'ol website!

Holidays are sometimes over rated if you ask me. Christmas is cool but it has lost the reason around it. My children's birthdays are much more important than the lights and presents that we see during Christmas.

This summer has been awesome for me in as much as it relates to time I've gotten to spend with my 9-year-old son Drew.

Another 'Bucket List' item crossed off for yours truly last night. Iconic songwriter/musician Steve Earle and the Dukes came through Yakima on the "Low Highway" tour and played the Capitol Theatre.  I took my dad as a belated Father's Day present as he and I have come to know and love Mr. Earle's music dating back to around 1996.

Man, am I glad my dad doesn't have a cell phone! With that said, here's some ridiculously funny texts to honor dads for Father's Day.

If you are a father, I am sure that you will relate to this guy. I am a mom and I feel the same way.

Over the last week and a half, my Facebook feed has been fraught with youngsters and teens alike posing for a picture to memorialize their first day of fill-in-the-blank grade.

Father's Day was this past Sunday and I always look forward to spending time with my son and my dad. Three generations hanging out together doing what we do best and that's barbeque and laugh.

First, let me wish ALL dad's a very happy Father's Day. It has been said that any guy can father a child, but it takes a man to be a dad. Mine is one such man.
