In a message on their official Facebook page as well as in a corresponding press release, the Central Washington Fair Association Board voted unanimously today (June 22) to cancel the 2020 Central Washington State Fair. The announcement comes on the heels of another one of the area's most highly anticipated annual events, Chinook Fest, also shuttering for this year.

This year's fair was slated for a 10-day run beginning September 25th and running through October 4th. The fair has only been cancelled seven times in 128 years. The economic impact for State Fair Park will be massive as the fair generates roughly $4 million in revenue for the organization.

According to the press release, Chairman Dave Hargreaves said that the decision to cancel was made with a "heavy heart."

A Plan B, so to speak, has been put in to motion as a result which will include a drive through ‘Fair Food Fest’  planned for September 17 – 20th.  The drive through experience "will include a canned food drive, a car selfie station, entertainment and some favorite fair foods all from the safety of your car.”

More details will be forthcoming on the Fair’s official website, www.fairfun.com. The 2021 CWSF is already scheduled for September 24 – October 3rd.
