Ballots for registered voters in Yakima County will be sent out on October 15 for the upcoming November general election.

MORE THAN 128,000 BALLOTS WILL BE SENT OUT LATER THIS MONTH

Auditor Charles Ross says 128,423 ballots will be sent to registered voters in the county. Your ballot is due on election day Tuesday, November 2. If you are looking for information about candidates and issues all registered voters will be sent a Yakima County voters guide later this month. Ross says it’s a thick packet of information this election season.

A BUSY BALLOT DEPENDING ON WHERE YOU LIVE IN THE VALLEY

Depending upon where you live it’ll be a busy ballot with city and county elections as well as propositions in Selah and Yakima. In Yakima city council seats are open in District 2, 4 and 6. A seat on the Yakima County Commission is up for election. Yakima County is hoping for passage of Proposition 1 which asks voters to authorize the continued collection of a sales tax equal to three - tenths of one percent until 2023.
In the city of Yakima Proposition 1 asks voters to approve a change in the city charter that would result in a council position being vacant if a council member failed to meet attendance requirements.
The city of Yakima Proposition 2 asks voters to conform sections to state law and make corrective and clarifying amendments to the Charter.
The city of Yakima Proposition 3 asks voters to change the city charter to add a provision stating the City Council may not enact a local income tax on residents of the city.

VOTERS IN SELAH ARE BEING ASKED TO SUPPORT THE AQUATIC CENTER

In the city of Selah Proposition 1 asks voters if Selah Park and Recreation Service Area should be authorized to impose regular property tax levies of 10 cents or
less per thousand dollars of assessed valuation for each of six consecutive years, for the Selah Aquatic Center/Pool operating expenses.
Ross says don't forget to sign the ballot envelope and place it in the mail as soon as possible. You don't need a stamp to send your ballot in the mail. You can also drop your ballot in a drop box. Drop boxes are located throughout the county including in city and town halls.
