Seattle ranked the highest in Washington state, coming in at #7 on the list. Excuse me, but when I think of barbecue, I definitely do not think of SEATTLE! Who are these people making this list? I question their judgment as a foodie and as a human being! Why don’t they ever come to the small towns within a state instead of the big city? I say this because if there's one thing I know is it's the small towns that serve up the best barbecue! Come on, man! We EASILY have the best bbq in the Pacific Northwest, don’t you think?

Case in point: I know of two local food trucks that have served me some of the best barbecue sandwiches and pulled pork nachos that I've ever had--right here in the Yakima Valley!

I am hereby taking over this crappy Chef's Pencil list of the best WA state barbecue joints! Let me flip the script and tell you some of the best BBQ places we've got sitting right here in the Yakima Valley right out in the open!

Tie: Of course, you've got your restaurant chains that serve great local barbecues, places like Famous Dave's (1504 E Washington Ave, Union Gap) and Dickey’s BBQ (2706 W Nob Hill Blvd, Yakima). If I had to choose between which one of these two has the BEST bbq, wow, it's almost a tie. You literally cannot go wrong choosing either one! I REALLY love Dickey's bbq "Classic Sandwich" with some jalepeño baked beans, mac and cheese, coleslaw, and creamed spinach. Dickey's sandwiches are out of sight, but then here comes Famous Dave's with the best barbecue sauces ever! Pair those sauces up with one of their Barbeque Pulled Chicken Sandwiches and you've got yourself a deal!
Yes, F.D. and D.B. are absolutely delicious but so are our LOCAL barbecue joints!

All About BBQ & More Mz. Dee’s: 524 W Yakima Ave: If you can catch Mz. Dee's restaurant when it's open, you are in for the treat of your life! In addition to some of the best jambalaya you'll ever try and some other good eats, Mz. Dee's restaurant also serves pulled pork or brisket, along with some baked beans for less than 10 bucks! Get some for lunch or dinner. "Have choo-choo, will travel" is their motto!

Lariat Bar-B-Q: 621 W Yakima Ave: I have yet to try this place, but I've heard positive reviews. This weekend, I am going to march over there and try their Pulled Pork Sandwich because I saw a picture of it on Facebook and it looks REALLY GOOD!

Kim’s Got Smoke: The. Best. Pulled. Pork. Nachos. You. Will. Ever. Try. Enough said. This is a food truck, so it might be hard to find them. You can always ring them up and find out by calling (509) 945-1607 or send them a message on Facebook.

Heavenly Smoked Food Truck: I am so distraught. I first became familiar with this food truck at one of my favorite breweries, Single Hill Brewing Company (102 N Naches Ave, Yakima) this past Mother's Day event. They had a Heavenly Smoked food truck on-site serving up delicious barbecue, smoked mac and cheese, and coleslaw. I didn't get a business card so I have no earthly idea how to contact them to get another one of their pulled pork sandwiches and barbecue sauce. If you know where I can find them, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I'm getting hangry over here.
