Washington Governor Jay Inslee flew to Yakima yesterday (6/16/20) to meet with local health and government leaders to talk about the Covid-19 cases in the county.  While declining positive tests have 33 of the state's 39 counties moving out of phase one closure restrictions, Yakima County remains mired with the worst numbers in the state.

The Washington State county average is 52 positive cases of Coronavirus per 100,000 people. Yakima's rate is 700 per 100,000 which puts us far out of the Governor's required range to reopen business.

Elected leaders like County Commissioner Vicki Baker met with the Governor to urge his office to look at the unique circumstances of Ag labor in the Valley.  Baker was a guest on KIT Radio's Morning News to talk about the meeting where she shared the highlights, concerns and future prospects for business.
