Dave Navarro Is Coming to Yakima In 2020 for a YWCA Luncheon
“When my mother's life was taken by a violent ex, I, unfortunately, was a witness to how domestic violence can not only destroy the victim's life but the lives of friends and family members." - Dave Navarro
The YWCA Yakima held a video news conference this morning (Sept. 26) via Facebook announcing Dave Navarro as their special guest speaker for their 2020 Leadership Luncheon. You can get up close and personal with him at this event!
While most fans of Dave Navarro know him for being "one of the last great guitarists" as a member of the rock band Jane's Addiction and a former member of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, they might not know that he is also a huge domestic violence prevention advocate.
Navarro has personal experience with being affected by domestic violence and drug addiction, as shared in his 2015 documentary, MOURNING SON. The film was shot over seven years and chronicled the aftermath of dealing with the murder of his mother, Constance Colleen Hopkins, by her ex-boyfriend.
Navarro created a domestic violence awareness campaign in 2016 called #PutTheNailInIt. By painting your ring finger purple, (the official color of domestic violence awareness), you can help spread domestic violence awareness.
