There is a homemade sign in the outfield seats at Safeco Field paying tribute to Mariners outfielder Dee Gordon's blazing footwork that reads "Spee-Dee". After today's game in Oakland, it may need to be altered to read "Deep Gordon".

Gordon yanked the first pitch he saw into the right-center seats to break-up a scoreless tie in the 12th inning to propel the M's to a 2-0 victory over the division rival Athletics.

Edwin Diaz struck out the side in the bottom of the inning to preserve the win which puts Seattle back to 2.5 games behind the A's for the final Wild Card slot in the American League.
