Exclusive Interview with Crone’s Bella Dagdagan: A Fresh New Voice in the Yakima Valley Music Scene
Crone is a local up-and-coming musical alt-indie/folk group from the Yakima Valley, formed by Bella Dagdagan. Bella serves as the singer, songwriter, and frontman for Crone.
I had the opportunity to sit down with Bella to talk about Crone's upcoming album release party, the meaning behind the band's name, their musical inspirations, and what comes next for the group.
It is clear that they are passionate about both their music and their band. They have a lot of heart and drive, and Crone has the potential to become a rising force in the local music community.

Reclaiming the Meaning of the Word 'Crone'
Their music carries a folksy, alternative melody that pairs emotional charged lyrics with the powerful rhythms of their instruments. Crone was formed in 2023 and has continued to grow its recognition throughout the Yakima Valley and Pacific Northwest music scenes.
When speaking with Bella, they explained that Crone was a name that had been in their heart for many years before the formation of the group.

The word "crone" has often been used in English as a derogatory term to describe some older women, typically portraying them as angry or unpleasant. However, Bella explained that they wanted to reclaim the word and bring a more positive meaning to it.

They described the word as having connections to traditions in which a crone could represent a wise woman, elder, or healer.
For Bella, reclaiming the word is about taking something that has been used negatively toward women and reshaping it into something empowering.
Hard Work Finally Pays Off with Two New Single Releases
Crone has already released two singles on streaming platforms, "Serotonin" and "Running Joke." Now, after years of hard work and dedication, their first full-length album will be released on August 28th, and the band is celebrating in a big way.

There will be an album launch party at Mojo Studio (302 N 1st St, Yakima) this month to celebrate the release. The event will feature a concert where the band will play through the album, along with merchandise and, the opportunity to purchase a physical copy of the CD itself.
The event is also part of The Seasons Music Project, featuring multiple artists.

With influences ranging across different artists and styles, Crone brings those inspirations together to create a sound of their own.

What Is Next for Crone?
Bella spoke about how much they have loved the music the band has been playing and the work that has gone into building up to this full album. The band is already looking toward the future and writing their next chapter, including writing new songs for the next album.
Taking everything the band has learned from creating their debut and having one album under their belt, Bella hopes the band's experience will make recording and releasing their next one a much faster process.
Bella says the best place to keep up with Crone news and tour dates is on their Instagram page. Make sure to check out the album release celebration and catch Crone here in the Yakima Valley before they make it big!
