I love Christmas and the holiday season but even I will admit that getting in to the Christmas spirit this year has not been as easy to do in 2020 -- for obvious reasons.

Thank goodness for sake of goodness that the Yakima Christmas Trucks passed through our neighborhood in East Valley on Saturday. Moxee was toward the end of their near-nightly tour of towns throughout Central Washington. This year, they made stops all the way from Roslyn, to Wiley City and down to the Tri-Cities. In fact, they also visited folks in Wapato, Naches, Selah, Mabton, Sunnyside, Prosser, Union Gap, Benton City, Zillah, Kennewick, Grandview, Terrace Heights and Pasco. Whew! And They do it all just because they want to.

The Yakima Christmas Trucks lighted parade has been a highlight of the season in our family for years and years and again they did not disappoint! With the bight, festive lights and props adorning each vehicle, the sounds of the season blaring out of speakers on each "float" to the loud horns honking on the big rigs, it truly is an assault to the senses. The best part? Being in concert with the people in your neighborhood with everybody feeling happy -- and saying "thank you" to strangers. It really embodies, for me, at least, what Christmas is truly all about.

If you missed it, here's a taste of what it looked like from the cozy confines of my front yard in Moxee. The first truck leading the way was being driven by "Mr. Moxee" himself, "Big Al" Benny. Al has been named in the past as on of Yakima Christmas Trucks biggest supporters and it is well-deserved. All told, 14 FANTASTIC displays and a metric ton of all the "feels".

Thanks again to all who, clearly, take their passion of the holiday spirit to spread the cheer up and down the Yakima Valley each year -- ESPECIALLY this year!
Merry Christmas to all!
