YOU'RE NOT DRIVING ENOUGH AND SEVERE WEATHER IMPACTING DRIVING

According to Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, the national average has seen a reprieve from rising prices due to weaker-than-expected gasoline demand and building supplies. However, severe weather has impacted gasoline supplies in certain regions, including Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Michigan.
"We're seeing a bit of a mixed bag right now," said De Haan. "While many areas have seen prices decline, some regions are still feeling the impact of refinery outages and supply chain disruptions."

HOPING FOR CHEAPER PRICES FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE SUMMER

GasBuddy's data is compiled from over 11 million weekly price reports covering over 150,000 gas stations across the country. As summer vacation season comes to a close, De Haan is hopeful that gas prices will continue to edge lower in the coming weeks.
"For now, it's all about supply and demand," he said. "If demand remains steady and supplies continue to build, we could see prices continue to fall."
