
Hit and Run Crash in Yakima Thursday Leaves Rider With Injuries
Yakima Police are investigating a serious hit a run crash reported last Friday that left a bicycle rider with numerous injuries. Officers were called to the scene in the 2000 block of Englewood Avenue at about 11:45 pm Thursday.
THE VICTIM WAS FOUND WITH SERIOUS HEAD INJURIES AND BROKEN BONES
Officers found Nathaniel Mardel on the side of the road suffering from head injuries two broken arms and a broken leg. Bones were also broken in his face. His bike was broken in two pieces and was in the roadway.
He was taken to a Yakima hospital then transferred to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. his thigh bone, shin, shoulder, arm, wrist and bones in his face,

POLICE SAY THE VEHICLE DRIVER WAS SPEEDING BEFORE THE CRASH
Police say Mardel was riding his bike westbound on Englewood near North 21st Avenue when he was struck by a vehicle traveling Eastbound at what police say was a "high rate of speed."
A SHORT INVESTIGATION AND CAR PARTS LEAD TO AN ARREST
Parts of the vehicle were found at the scene and police used those parts to find the person responsible for the crash. After a short investigation Officers arrested Tyson Hunter at a Yakima home.
Police say Hunter was arrested without incident and did not have a license. He's being held in the Yakima County jail on vehicular assault, felony hit and run and DUI charges. An investigation continues.
