To whom it may concern in Yakima, please put your Christmas decorations away. Here is my open letter to anyone who is still feeling the holly jolly festive spirit, or just doesn’t want to embrace the upcoming springtime.

Christmas House Decorations & Road Signs?

This open letter idea was sparked by the sight I saw (pictured above). The person who put up that sign either really LOVES HANGING Christmas lights, forgot about one of their signs, or is just lazy and figuring someone else would remove it. Just remember that a sign can technically be considered litter if left there long enough, and that can come with a fine.

For other people in the Yakima Valley who still have their decorations out, we’re past Valentine’s Day and Presidents’ Day. It’ll be St. Patrick’s Day and Easter before we know it. It’s time to let Santa get some rest. We already stuck Mariah Carey back in the freezer, I think the frosty lawn ornament surrounded by brown grass needs to go too.

Decorations For All Holidays, All Year

Normally, I’m perfectly okay with holiday decorations being out way before time and way after time, but this time it’s more sad than creative. At least with the people who have those giant skeletons, they put little wings and a bow and arrow on it to represent cupid, and will throw a green cap and a pot of gold to signal a skeletal luck of the Irish.

If your Christmas ornaments change with the holidays, awesome and thank you, but if yours are in the exact same spot since November 28th, then it’s time to pack them up.

On A Serious Note: There isn't just ONE house I've seen that is still jingling the bells, so this isn't meant to be a personal attack. And if by chance you're physically or emotionally not able to pack them away, please reach out for help.
